Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Omid Djalili at one of the Northern Ireland’s best venues, the Waterfront Hall.
Omid has starred in many films such as Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and one of my faves, Mean Machine. A brilliant comedian, probably best known for his hilarious Godzilla impressions, his range of material was fantastic from talking about his early days as a student at Coleraine to “international nancy boys” Al-Qaeda! A big turn out fully appreciated his sense of humour at thankfully we were treated to an encore where he demonstrated the art of theraputic dance to solve a member of the audience’s personal problems. I say member of the audience, I reckon the guy was a plant as he spoke about his wife recently leaving him to which Omid replied “So you came here tonight to cheer yourself up?” and the guy replied “That was the idea!”. Still a hilarious routine which had me in stitches and left the crowd with a standing ovation.
Incidentally the support act, Boothby Graffoe, was also brilliant. A very witty guy who sang a range of what I can only describe as random songs, such as Bungee Girl. Apparently he has some material on iTunes, I highly recommend you go search.
