Welcome!

Hi folks, after what seems like years of comtemplation, I’ve finally bitten the bullet and decided to launch my own Blog. Why now? Well various reasons but mainly two, why bother and what would I write about?

So, why have I decided to bother. Well there are a number of reasons:

  • I now enjoy reading other people’s blogs and feel inspired
  • I want to improve my writing skills and a blog I manage in work
  • To meet new people, get feedback and share ideas

And what will I write about? Well my fave blog belongs to none other than JackP . Like myself, Jack cares about the web, he cares about accessibility and he owns a Wii! I’ve learned from Jack’s blog that it’s not just about the serious stuff, by talking about everyday life people see that you are human and that there’s more to you than some bloke of that forum.

I mentioned above getting feedback and sharing ideas. One of the common themes that will run through my blog will be related to my full time occupation. I work for government in Northern Ireland, managing the central web team and amongst other things I am enthusiastic about web standards, good design and usability. My posts will be my own thoughts (and here comes the disclaimer), not those of the NI Civil Service but I’m hoping for constructive feedback which I hope will make my day job not only easier but challenging and inspirational.

So thats it folks. Hopefully by the time you read this someone else will have! Will this be another empty blog in cyberspace? I hope not.
